Amanda is an advocate for disruptive pedagogy – embracing Generative AI and evolving traditional assessment practices into relevant, authentic and innovative ways of evaluating student learning to meet academic expectations and prepare students to meet ever changing social and industry needs.
Amanda graduated from the University of Calgary with a Master’s of Education in Integral Curriculum Development and is currently a Doctoral candidate at OISE/University of Toronto. Her research focuses on the intersection of Generative AI and academic integrity in the Ontario College system.
Following over a decade as full-time faculty, Amanda joined Durham College in 2020 and is the Dean of the Centre for Teaching and Learning, leading curriculum and new program development, digital learning, academic quality and student learning services.
Amanda co-lead the development of Durham’s suite of Generative AI resources, is the Chair of Durham’s Academic Integrity Committee, and is an active member of the Academic Integrity Council of Ontario (AICO) and the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) Committee on Academic Integrity and Contract Cheating (CAICC).
